The new common admission test is designed on the lines of other entrance tests such as the common aptitude test (for MBA), joint entrance exam (for IITs) and AIPMT (for medical).
Now students seeking admission to these premier law varsities will have to take the two-hour CLAT which would consist mainly of objective-type questions on English language, general knowledge, basic mathematics, legal and logical reasoning.

According to a UGC release, students would be able to browse through the combined brochure carrying information about the seven law universities, the courses offered and the eligibility criteria on the official website of CLAT, www.clat.ac.in, from 25th January 2008.
Under the new proposed scheme, each of the seven universities will conduct the CLAT exam by rotation.
